Bali Weather Month by Month (What to Expect)

A month-by-month breakdown of Bali's weather — temperature, rain, humidity and sea conditions — so you can pick the right time to go.

Bali sits just south of the equator, so it's warm all year — daytime temperatures barely move from 30–32°C (86–90°F). What actually changes month to month is the rain, the humidity and the sea. Here's what to expect, and how it lines up with the crowds and prices.

The two seasons

  • Dry season (roughly April–October): lower humidity, calmer seas, reliable sun. Peak travel.
  • Wet season (roughly November–March): hotter, stickier, with short heavy downpours — usually in the afternoon, not all day. Cheaper and quieter.

For how this maps to prices and crowds, see the best time to visit Bali.

Month by month

  • January — wettest month. Hot, humid, frequent afternoon storms. Lowest prices, greenest scenery.
  • February — still wet, still humid. Good value; pack for rain.
  • March — the wet season eases. Increasingly sunny, still lush.
  • April — start of the dry season. Lovely weather, gardens still green, prices reasonable.
  • May — arguably the sweet spot: dry, warm, calm seas, before the crowds.
  • June — reliably dry and sunny; shoulder into peak.
  • July — peak dry season. Best weather, biggest crowds, highest prices. Book early.
  • August — same as July: excellent weather, busy and pricey.
  • September — excellent and a touch quieter than August. A top pick.
  • October — mostly dry early, transitioning by month's end.
  • November — wet season returns; still plenty of sun between showers. Prices drop.
  • December — wet and humid, but Christmas/New Year is a busy, pricey travel window despite the rain.

Sea and surf

The dry season brings calmer water on the west and south coasts (Seminyak, Canggu, Uluwatu) and cleaner surf. The wet season can mean choppier seas and more debris on some beaches. Sanur's reef-protected lagoon on the east coast stays calm year-round — one reason it's great for families and relaxed stays.

Bottom line

You can visit Bali any month. For the best weather, aim May, June or September; for value and green landscapes, the wet-season shoulders (April, November) are underrated. Once you've picked your dates, compare hotels across Bali's areas and lock in your stay.
